PROJECT
Engineering design surveys are generally prepared as part of an engineering project and incorporate elements from several types of surveys.  The surveyor works as part of a team of consultants who will be utilizing the survey drawing as the basis of their design.

Engineering design surveys usually are related to the design of roads, bridges, sanitary and storm drainage systems.

SUBJECT AREA
The surveyor prepares a survey of the subject area for the engineer.  Elevations are measured, fixed improvements are located, drainage and utility structures are located and as-built. The survey reflects right-of-way lines, easements and property lines in many cases. The engineer then utilizes the survey to prepare an accurate design.

Permanent control points and benchmarks are set to facilitate future layout of improvements.

Survey drawings are developed and incorporated into the engineering plans.
