James D. Stoner, P.S.M. — President
James Stoner is a true pioneer and a second-generation land surveyor with over fifty years of experience in the profession. Before establishing Stoner & Associates, he worked his way through every role — from Rodman to Vice President of Land Surveying at Williams Hatfield and Stoner, Inc. (WH&S) a prominent Engineering, Land Surveying and Planning firm located in Davie, Florida. As the son of one of the founding partners of WH&S, it was Mr. Stoner’s dream to one day start his own land surveying firm Guided by a philosophy that “attention to detail and quality work creates success,” he founded the company with a commitment to high standards and dependable service. Today, James continues to oversee the firm’s growth and development while maintaining close relationships with clients and consultants.
Leadership that Keeps the Vision Alive
Douglas Stoner — Vice President / CEO
Following in his father’s footsteps, Douglas, a third-generation surveyor, has been a vital member of the firm for more than three decades. Rising from entry-level Rodman to Vice President and CEO, Douglas brings deep field experience and operational leadership to the company. He manages daily operations, ensuring efficient field crew coordination, equipment performance, and safety — all while applying his expertise in boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys.
Leigh Anne Stoner — Vice President / CFO
Leigh Anne brings strong administrative and financial leadership to the Stoner team. With more than 15 years at the firm and prior experience in office management and accounting, she oversees accounting, payroll, and daily office functions. Her steady leadership ensures that the company’s administrative operations run smoothly and support its growing scope of work. As side from being third-generation within the land surveying industry, Leigh Anne’s husband and his father are also surveyors.
Experienced Professionals Rounding Out the Team
Walter De La Rocha, P.S.M. — Senior Professional Land Surveyor
With over 42 years of experience, Walter is a seasoned second-generation surveyor renowned for his expertise in ALTA/ACSM land title surveys, topographic and utility surveys, right-of-way control, and digital terrain modeling. His technical skills and mastery of advanced survey software make him a valuable asset to complex projects. Walter comes from a family of surveyors with his father and brother both experienced in the industry.
Damian Rodriguez — Survey/CAD Technician
A long-time member of the Stoner team, Damian has over nineteen years of experience and plays a key role in producing detailed drawings and survey maps. His technical ability and consistency have made him indispensable in converting field data into precise deliverables.
Robert Borges, P.S.M. — Senior Crew Chief
The firm’s longest-tenured employee, Robert brings more than forty years of surveying experience to every project. As Senior Crew Chief, he tackles challenging assignments, mentors crews, and applies his deep knowledge of boundary, topographic, and aviation surveys, ensuring fieldwork is executed with care and expertise.
